Lucky Me!!!

We all know those Leprechauns can be crafty little tricksters, but
this year, they surprised me and did something amazing!!!
They brought me a new granddaughter!!!  Elli Mae Carlock was
born to my stepson, Justin and his fiance' on March 15th at 9:47 p.m.  She weighed 7lbs. 9 oz. and was 21" long!!!  Everyone is doing well!!!

Then, to top it off, they left the entire class a celebratory cake!!!
  A fun day!!!

Cats in Hats!

Dr. Seuss is a big deal in first grade, so we have been working with many of his stories this week!
We have made words out of the titles of his books, sorted and recorded real/nonsense words in our Reading Response journals, and read and wrote book reviews on his books! The front hallway bulletin board features these reviews and your Gator's drawing of the book cover! They are awesome!
Also, a big thank you to the volunteers who have come into the class to read to us this week!
I know they enjoy it  very much!!
We are starting on a geometry unit in math next week, so we used the pattern blocks in Math
Workshop as a precursor to the lessons,  take a look at the amazing designs they made together and
on their own!!
Thanks to another iPhone app, I transformed your child into one of Dr. Seuss' finest!!  Fun!

Thank you Volunteer Readers!!!  My apologies to Mrs. Stutz for my camera not working
when she read to us...!!
